Help us deliver a new green vision for Lewisham Town Centre
This new vision for Lewisham Shopping Centre is set to redefine the town centre. Brought to you by Landsec, owners of the centre for over 20 years, this totally revamped area will pave the way for a whole new green district including:
- A new park and meadow the size of a football pitch, on top a reimagined shopping centre
- 300 trees, thousands of plants and a 300% increase in biodiversity
- New shops, bars, cafes and restaurants
- New live music and culture venue that’s not-for-profit
- Three new public squares and community facilities
- 1,700 new homes with a minimum of 20% affordable housing for social rent, affordable homes for key workers, in addition to 665 student bedrooms and 445 co-living residences
- Almost half of the new district open public and green space
- A street food market with the spirit of the old Model Market
- Safe walking routes through the entire district
- Additional funding for the high street and support for local business, jobs and skills in the borough
But these benefits are not secured without planning permission
Next year, Lewisham Council’s planning committee will decide whether to approve the plans, and this is your chance to tell them what you think.
You can make a difference by sending in your views. This only takes a minute but will have a big impact.
We encourage you to add your own thoughts so that the Council knows how you feel. We have added suggestions below based on key parts of the proposals that you may want to consider.
